Meow. My name is Ernest (A105783), and do I have a story to tell you! I am a five-month-old kitten, and I’ve already been through a lot in my short life. You see, soon after I was born, I was brought into the OHS with four of my brothers and sisters as orphans.
The OHS staff decided that we needed the special attention and care of a foster volunteer. We quickly found ourselves in a warm and loving home, but unfortunately, the stress we had all been through soon took its toll. One of my siblings died of pneumonia not long after we were moved. I was very sad, and things got worse when I began to experience similar symptoms myself. I developed a high temperature, was very tired and didn’t want to eat. I was sneezing lots and had a terribly stuffed up nose. With no mom and dad to help me, I wasn’t sure what would happen!
The OHS dispatched someone to come and pick me up from my foster home and bring me back to the shelter. I was so frightened, but the staff gave me lots of cuddles and told me everything would be okay. They gave me something called subcutaneous fluids (sub Q) when I arrived. The staff explained to me that sub Q fluids would keep me properly hydrated, and help my kidneys function — that’s important I guess!
It took a little while for me to start to feel better, but soon my appetite was back and I started to run and play. Once I was healthy enough, I went through my neuter surgery, and then put up for adoption. I will miss my siblings, but I’m so lucky to have found such a loving family who will take care of me forever! I love them and couldn’t be happier and more thankful for everything the OHS did for my siblings and me!
Please help Ernest and other animals like him in need of emergency animal treatment, by making a donation.
