The Andy Fund

Andy de Breyne was a beloved and dedicated dog walker at the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) for close to 10 years.  In rain, snow, sleet and sun, Andy came to the shelter every day to walk "his" dogs, greeting each one with a booming hello. His fondness for Huskies was legendary, and the sight of one of these energetic dogs bounding along beside six-foot-plus Andy was common on the streets around OHS.

Andy loved our dogs, and in turn, the dogs loved Andy.  He gave so much to the animals and to the staff and volunteers who knew him. Andy died suddenly in December 2008.  For his gentle spirit, his unending devotion and his joyful smile, he will be missed.

We have set up the "Andy Fund" to allow those who knew Andy to pay tribute to him and also offer the opportunity to donate to the dogs he loved so much.

We hope that you will enjoy this site and share stories about Andy and celebrate everything Andy did for the Ottawa Humane Society dogs.

When a donation is given online, your personal information is encrypted then transferred to our database, which is password protected for security reasons and remains confidential.  The Ottawa Humane Society respects the right to privacy of its donors and  holds all personal information in strict confidentiality.

The Ottawa Humane Society limits access to your personal information to employees and select volunteers who need to come into contact with the information to provide you with a tax receipt for your donation and to provide you with information on the Ottawa Humane Society.
