Hi there it's me, Jingle! Today I met Nutmeg, a sweet six-month old kitten with a sad "tail" to tell me.

Rushed to the Ottawa Humane Society by a caring person after being found in a car engine, it was evident that Nutmeg was in a lot of pain when she arrived in our veterinary clinic. She was hunched over and had horrific wounds on her back. The vet worried that the car's engine had injured Nutmeg's spine. The OHS vet started Nutmeg on pain medication immediately.

Fortunately, X-rays showed that this kitten's bones were just fine — but she still needed intensive medical treatment for abscesses and deep wounds.  Continued pain medication, antibiotics, and daily cleaning were needed for her wounds.

With continued medication and lots of TLC (including a visit from ME!), Nutmeg is resting comfortably in the care of OHS staff. But this is a temporary rest-stop on Nutmeg's long road to recovery: she needs time to recuperate with an experienced foster volunteer, continued pain management as she heals, and finally a spay surgery.

The cost for Nutmeg's emergency medications and treatments is still more than $1,200. You can give Nutmeg the second chance she deserves — in the spirit of giving, please donate to help Nutmeg and other animals like her. Thanks!
